The laser collimating lens, also called a collimator lens, is an optical element designed to focus or de-focus laser beams, or to focus at infinity with minimal parallax. They are available in various diameters and focal lengths to fit different optical systems. Generally, the longer the focal length, the better the collimation for diode lasers, due to the Gaussian beam characteristics of the laser.
